The two stones shaped like a “dragon” and a “turtle” collected by stone enthusiasts from Nangqian County, have been recognized as the largest natural Lancang River stone shaped “dragon” and the largest coral fossil shaped “turtle” in the world. Attendees at the certification meeting included Pengcuo Dawa, Director of the Environmental Protection Committee of the Yushu People's Congress, Cuo Ji, Deputy Head of Nangqian County People's Government, Luosong zhaxi, Deputy Director of Yushu County Cultural Tourism Bureau and leaders from relevant departments such as Qinghai Province Stone Appreciation Association, Qinghai Province Shi Wenhua Research Association and Qinghai Online network as well as representatives from Nangqian County Publicity Department and Cultural Tourism Bureau.
Tashi Badin and A Qun are collectors of strange stones, which they found respectively in Gayang Township and Jinisai Township in Nangqian County.
In 2011, Tashi Badin was accidentally attracted by an unattractive boulder among the stones during a grazing period. He came to the front, wiped the dust and sand on the surface of the stone with his hand and found that the pattern on the stone resembled a soaring dragon. Therefore, he moved home and collected it ever since.
On March 19, 2021, A Qun, who had been searching for stones for nearly 14 days found nothing. He coincidentally was attracted by a stone covered with red spots when ready to return home with little interest. After he took out the stone, he found that it was a god turtle shaped like looking into the distance, and he was happy to collect the treasure.
The Lancang stone collected by Tashi Badin has a natural texture shaped "dragon". The grain is 76 cm high and 6.8 cm wide. The total weight of the stones is 1000 kg. The "dragon" shape texture of the stone has smooth lines and bright rhythm, which can form a certain rhythm and be scattered. The coral fossils collected by A Qun are 45 cm long, 16 cm high, 28 cm wide and weigh 18.6 kg. The fossil coral looks like a turtle. The two stones can be called the extraordinary works of nature.
Cuoji, deputy head of Nangqian County, said in his speech, "Lancang River Stone in Nangqian began to walk out of the county, into the provincial gate and to the whole country. This world certification is a good opportunity. It can be said that it has opened up a new way for Lancang River stone culture and international exchanges. The next step is that we must seize the development opportunity, actively communicate with the outside world and further make rare stone art, culture, tourism, economy, and research bigger and stronger.
The ancients said: " those who obtain stones are blessed, those who play with stones are happy, those who appreciate stones are long-lived, and those who hide stones are blessed with wealth and longevity." Chinese stone appreciation culture has a long history. The ancient people have a special preference for rare stones in addition to the line of the elegant things of the wind and snow. The whole history of world civilization can be said to be the evolution process of a "stone culture". Human beings came into being after ape man learned to use tools to walk upright. Stones were the first tools to be used so the beginning of human civilization was witnessed by stones.
